Yea. You can get them in dungeons alot. You use them to ride pigs.

riding a pig = not as cool as it sounds

That's terrifying, because it sounds not cool at all. :eek:

Should we compile a list of warp points we've created? You can get to my baseball park with "/warp minkfield", and Brien's house is "/warp reebosak".

/listwarps should tell you what's available

Oh, cool! I thought there was no way to list them.

I'll just put this here since it'll update each time there's an update to the game. Also, 1.4 is out. Tamable wolves!

Supposedly, there is a way to build a redstone-powered TNT catapult.

Dendro built one 2 servers ago.

On an unrelated note, someone else came over to see it and perhaps blew the whole thing up.

Wow, I didn't know about quite a few of those changes. The elimination of mobs spawning on rails is a welcome change. There are going to be soooo many people that go splat when they forget to reequip their wings after, say, a wither fight

You guys still play on a server? I just started playing vanilla again after 1.9 and was thinking about giving SMP a try

Macheath
03-07-2016, 12:10 PM
Yes, there's a server up at obliviousfilms.com:25565. It's not on 1.9 yet though, and I have no idea when it will be. I'll need to whitelist you if you're interested, so just try to log in and I'll scrape your username and UUID out of the logs.

If you don't mind, my son is pretty awesome at building stuff in minecraft and would probably be pumped if I told him about a private server he could connect to and build on. He's also won't mess up anyone's creations.

Macheath
03-07-2016, 05:25 PM
It's not particularly well organized, but if he wants to carve out his own area and do some stuff, sure. Just don't walk in one direction for 85 hours is all I ask.

Attempt to log in, and I'll whitelist whoever I see (provide usernames here to make it easier on me).

Edit: I see a "Castleman191"... whodat?

That's me

Are you on 1.89?

You should be whitelisted, let me know if you still can't connect.

Hmm, don't see that name.

Are you on 1.89?
Nope.

Ah. Maybe the first time I tried and it said "this server is on a different version" I didn't get far enough. This time using 1.8.6 I got to a "not on the whitelist" warning.

Okay, should be whitelisted now, give it another try.

No no no, that's the front door.

Edit: FYI for both of you, I have /warp enabled. Try not to add a thousand warp points. (try "/warps list" if you're not familiar)

I'll see what I can do about upgrading Spigot to 1.9 soon. I should make the server dynamic anyway, so it downloads and builds the latest code on its own. 213 versions behind is an embarrassment. What am I, your mother's installation of Firefox?

Well /warp is a lifesaver. My son decided to "check out the nether portal" and apparently because he hadn't bound to a bed or anything, when he died to the pigmen he kept respawning in the nether. haha! I had to help him run away and find a spot to block off so he had time to pull up the list and gtfo. ;)

o.O

Is that part of the bukkit plug in, Mac? You're supposed to respawn in the overworld.

But yeah, the nether portal could use some work

Hmmmm. Might be a "feature" of Multiverse (which is also installed).

My suspicion is that Multiverse sees different installed world maps as "dimensions" of the same server, to allow for separate spawn points and easy teleportation between worlds without a restart; as a side effect, the three normally separate "dimensions" (the world, vs. the nether, vs. the end) of the base world are sort of promoted to the same level of management, and now they've got their own spawn points as well.

That might be fixable with configuration, but I dunno.

Edit: Type "/mv list" to see the worlds installed. There's the default world ("omgworld"), an old server we played on in a youtube series ("old-world"), and several challenge maps ("sh-inferno" and so forth; "sh" stands for Super Hostile). You'll also see "omgworld_nether" and "omgworld_the_end," which sort of supports my theory.

Mac, do you know of any ice spike biomes and/or any slime chunks? Or if you're willing to post the seed then I can look it up myself

Macheath

Seed: -4198580586343736918 (http://mineatlas.com/?levelName=-4198580586343736918&seed=-4198580586343736918&mapCentreX=0&mapCentreY=0&mapZoom=16&pos=&Player=true&Spawn=true&Likely+Villages=false&Ocean+Monuments=false&Jungle+Temples=false&Desert+Temples=false&Witch+Huts=false&Slime+Chunks=false)

Macheath

Here's where I logged in most recently, which I think is our spawn point.

([omgworld]-124.0, 72.0, 263.0)
Might have been set with one of the mods, I doubt it's the world's original spawn.

Edit: Well that doesn't look right either. Maybe "MineAtlas" is busted.

Macheath
03-14-2016, 01:39 PM
Seed: -4198580586343736918 (http://mineatlas.com/?levelName=-4198580586343736918&seed=-4198580586343736918&mapCentreX=0&mapCentreY=0&mapZoom=16&pos=&Player=true&Spawn=true&Likely+Villages=false&Ocean+Monuments=false&Jungle+Temples=false&Desert+Temples=false&Witch+Huts=false&Slime+Chunks=false)
Okay, I went to the trouble of parsing the actual seed directly out of the level.dat file for "omgworld," and...

"RandomSeed": -4198580586343736918,
yes well alright then

The level.dat file also confirms the coords I posted above as the current spawn: X=-124, Y=72, Z=263

Edit: I like this map viewer better, (http://chunkbase.com/apps/biome-finder#-4198580586343736918) but it says the same thing. Something's gotta be screwy with our server's coordinates, probably thanks to Multiverse.

Drewbie
03-14-2016, 01:51 PM
I'm pretty sure the spawn you reference is the original. I recall the night the world was created and digging in the hill beside the spawn and making the 5 wide bed. My guess is the map decided to relocate the spawn because a deep ocean biome makes a poor starting point.

Macheath
03-14-2016, 02:00 PM
Some of the warp points, if you want to try and figure anything out based on the map viewers:

"home1" = -119, 72, 302
"home2" = -1479, 103, -177
"cathedralview" = -1602, 110, 436
"lonelyisland" = 3123, 84, -1861
"WorldSpawn" = -120, 71, 275

(No idea what created the "WorldSpawn" warp, but if it wasn't one of us, it's one more piece of evidence that something's screwing with our coordinate system.)

My best guess is that the initial world generation was done in 1.6 or previous. When I look at that seed in 1.6 the world spawn coords are in a Taiga which align with this viewer (http://chunkbase.com/apps/biome-finder#-4198580586343736918) (change the drop down to "1.6 and below" and then zoom out). Another thing that I notice is that there's still snow in the Taiga. It was either 1.6 or 1.7 that they changed it show snow only fell in the Cold Taiga biome or any non-deserty biome above Y=95. These jagged/abrupt chunk boarders (http://imgur.com/KkXli6T) lend to this theory as well as chunk/world generation was changed in 1.6 or 1.7 to add new biomes like the Mesa and Savannah

Macheath
03-14-2016, 03:18 PM
Hmm, interesting. Possibly something like that, though the base world should be 1.8+ since it was only generated <1 year ago and I hadn't upgraded Spigot (hence it being on 1.8.6 prior to last week). However, some of the other world files imported using Multiverse are very likely 1.6 or older, which... it would not surprise me if that was throwing everything into disarray. All the worlds presumably need to share a coordinate system if you're going to be teleporting back and forth between them. So they may all be defaulting to pre-1.6. Oooorrrr something. Like maybe Spigot "1.8.6" is actually Minecraft 1.1 or some shit.

What chance is there of creating a new 10.whatever world with a multiverse options to go back to the current one? There's some pretty cool stuff since this one was spawned and I'd hate to end of streak of cathedral builds that never actually complete.

Macheath
08-18-2016, 03:32 PM
I can upgrade the server, and generate a new world. None of the existing worlds should vanish.

Are you saying our server's out of date? Or just that I haven't ever generated a world since the latest upgrade?

Drewbie

Both of those things are true.

New update that added a few pretty cool things again, including llamas. Cool as my new little castle could have been, I'm cool with a world wipe and reset to get the latest and greatest.
