I admit I'm a little smitten with this shiny new gadget. Not that I want to shell out $1000+ for one, but it sure is sexy. Plus you could get a pretty well equipped laptop PC for a grand.
Thoughts?

So, is this the iPad killer?

Bleh. I'm strongly against paying so much extra for the shiny.
Bah humbugs aside, I still think it's neat.
I doubt it would kill the iPad since the two are different devices at different price points, but that is certainly an illogical conclusion you could draw.
Gnorlin here's a game for you. Find a similar PC laptop for less money. Machines with the same processor, and similar screen size, hard drive, and RAM are not too far off in price. There are some but not a whole lot less, and certainly a less shiny package.
It has only one USB port, which sucks. Having to carry around a fanny pack full of connectors so you can connect it to anything other than wireless sucks. If you can't handle the extra 2-3 pounds of a normal laptop work out, because you will get a lot more horse power per dollar by not buying an Air.
not sure how you came to that conclusion but that is not even close to the case...
That said, I have used one of the older iterations of the air and let me tell you they are very nice if you travel or work on the go quite a bit. You do always pay a premium for Apple products however just saying you can get a more powerful computer isn't always what is important for everyone.
Aside from the fact that it has two just how many things do you want plugged in at once?
I don't even travel all that much and it seems like a nice machine. I do move my laptop around my house and use it on my lap a lot so it's minimal size would be a plus.
Also I'm with Deso on power isn't everything. I don't have any programs on my laptop that this thing wouldn't run better.
I have a VP that has one and she carries around a makeup bag with a VGA connector, DVI connector, Ethernet Dongle, and a USB hub. Her iteration of the Air only has one USB port and if she wants to use the ethernet port and something like a flash drive, PKI Security Token, DVD drive, or a mouse she has to use the USB hub.
On a standard non-apple laptop you get the VGA, DVI, Ethernet and 2-4 USB ports built in. Even if you went Apple you could get a Macbook Pro and have everything built in but the Video port.
