    Words from a Patriots fan on last night's game:

    I was blown away by how bad the Packers playcalling was last night. We might have the slowest LB corps fielded in the NFL in a decade, yet the Packers barely tested us laterally or in short areas where everyone had eviscerated us this year. Instead they just kept throwing right into the teeth of the strength of our defense (vertically on the boundaries against our corners).
    All I need to hear. I'm officially on the "Fire McCarthy" bandwagon. Dude doesn't adjust his gameplan from year to year, let alone game to game, half to half. Doesn't matter who's injured, what the situation is, what the other team's good (or bad) at. Refuses to let somebody more competent help plan and call the offense. Just trusts Rodgers to bail him out.

    Haha Clinton-Dix: traded
    Jermaine Whitehead: cut
    Kentrell Brice: probably on IR after getting carted off the field in tears

    Ladies and gentlemen of Lambeau Field, your starting safeties: Tramon Williams and... Raven Greene? Good lord, if Josh Jones still can't crack the starting lineup after Brice's injury, what in the everloving heck is wrong with that guy?

    EDIT: And what's up at OLB? Knew it was a weak position, but... Clay's doing alright, Nick Perry is a man-shaped pile of crap, Gilbert's fairly solid, and Kyler Fackrell of all people is putting real, live, actual moves on people and getting sacks.

    I don't necessarily blame TT for this, but the timing sure did suck:

    First, Cobb has the best year of his career in 2014. Only time he's ever gone over 1,000 yards, had double-digit TDs, or gone to the Pro Bowl, before or since:

    cobb.png

    And naturally, it's a contract year. So in 2015, GB is more or less forced to re-sign him to a big deal. ($10M/year)

    Then Nick Perry has the only good year of his career in 2016. Only time he's had over 50 tackles, double-digit sacks, or even started 12 games. Only INT of his career, too:

    And naturally, it's a contract year. During a dry year for pass rushers, no less. So in 2017, GB is more or less forced to re-sign him to a big deal. ($12M/year)

    Now in 2018, both players have been borderline useless for years, riddled with injuries and rarely performing -- taking a combined 15+ percent of the team's salary cap. 15 hot damn percent, two of the team's top five salaries!

    Both of these guys are probably gone next year. Perry for sure, kick his bum ass to the curb. TT made some bad decisions in the 2014-2017 timeframe -- these two contracts weren't necessarily the worst, but they sure didn't pan out. Looking forward to clearing some shit off the books. Let Gutekunst clean house. Go man go.

    Wow, Green Bay Packers + CenturyLink Field + bad referees, name a more iconic trio.

    <Seahawk defender literally clotheslines Davante Adams across the face as he's waiting for a pass>

    <Not pass interference>

    EDIT: <Seahawk receiver bobbles the ball for 5 yards and then throws it out of bounds>

    <Completed pass>

    Also the holding call on the big return... and just now Adams catches another one despite a no call pass interference.

    Packers were leading coming out of halftime, and they ran the ball 4 times in the second half.

    McCarthy made some terrible decisions (no challenge on the long Seahawks completion, punt on 4th and 2 with the game on the line).

    Rodgers made some terrible throws (dancing in the pocket looking downfield, refusing to checkdown, taking third-down sacks on 3-4 drives in a row).

    Not surprised they lost, or that the season's more or less finished at this point. But it seems like it should have been easy. Tired of watching GB lose games that should be wins. Kind of expecting McCarthy to be gone after this season, which means gambling the last few years of Rodgers' career on a new coach. Great!

    In contrast, the Saints went for it on 4th and 7 while leading 38-7, and Brees threw a TD.

    McCarthy's so gone.

    Well, they've both been to a Super Bowl, but one of 'em is making $33M/year. The other is Mike McCarthy.
