Holy crap, this guy must have been at it for an hour, listen to him wheezing. But "Darth Maul mode" looks hard as hell.

He's not sexy like the girl in the previous post, but he looks more badass.

There are quite a few games I'd buy if I got a PS4, and this is now on the list:

    (really good trailer, too)

I'm thinking about picking up a VR hat at some point, so I went to the VR subreddit and the first video I saw was this one. It's not exactly to my taste (by which I mean petting 14-year-old girls) but I gotta say... it's probably all pre-baked animations, but watching the anime girl get frustrated reaching for a donut, that's solid. I feel that.

Holy Stromboli, I just ran the SteamVR Performance Test, and what this tells me is that when I assembled my PC more than four years ago (in Jan. 2015) maybe I overbuilt a little.

I successfully waited so long to jump into VR that the first (and first.5) generations have passed, and now I might as well wait for the second generation HMDs to start coming out.

    Gen 1:
    • Oculus Rift: now phased out in favor of the Rift S
    • HTC Vive
    • PSVR: requires you to buy a PS4
    • Pimax 4K: uses an LCD screen, so blacks are more like greys

    Gen 1.5:
    • Oculus Rift S: more expensive, heavier, LCD screen, no headphones... how is this the next generation?
    • HTC Vive Pro: higher resolution, more features
    • Pimax 8K: LCD screen
    • Lenovo Explorer: WMR
    • Samsung Odyssey: WMR

"WMR" headsets are just what Microsoft insists on calling VR. "Windows Mixed Reality." Okay sure. But basically they're the same thing, just cheaper, with different tracking and fewer features.

    Gen 2:
    • Oculus Quest: upgraded Oculus Go
    • HTC Vive Cosmos: new tracking system, easier setup
    • HP Reverb: just announced, looks nice
    • Secret Valve HMD: mysterious

These fuckers are gonna be expensive. No release dates yet. But they're all on the horizon, so... guess I'll keep waiting.

Wow. At the $350 price point, I would definitely have considered picking up a Rift, but it's gone now and the Rift S seems to have a serious mechanical defect.

I ran the VR tool and my computer is shockingly good to go for VR as well. I'm essentially waiting for you to get one and tell me how it is before I pull the trigger. I should just go somewhere to try out options. I did just have my pupil distance measured for new glasses, but damned if I can recall what it was.
