HTC Vive is $799. That price includes all the required peripherals, though -- two controllers, and the "lighthouse" thingies that go around the room. Honestly, with Oculus priming everyone's expectations at a higher-than-expected price point, and with HTC insisting all along that the Vive would be a more expensive alternative, $799 is certainly lower than it could have been. In my mind, this pops them up to the top of the pile of competitors.

Is it... just the music that makes this seem like porn?

It comes with two games, too: Job Simulator and Fantastic Contraption. Noice.

Also Google Tilt Brush which is an art program or something whatever. I really don't need an $800 toy, but on the other hand, this shit looks awesome and VR sounds awesome and I could look at this as buying a new monitor or something I guess plus then I'd be an early adopter which is awesome but I'd be out eight hundo which I don't like that much

I dunno, I'm not all that into heart attacks. But I will definitely buy this game and have all the heart attacks it takes to get 100% achievements.

I have been sort of paying attention to the current VR 'race' and that video for the HTC Vive is one of the things that is really starting to turn things around for me. I'm curious for those that are on board, what else are they promising or talking about bringing into the picture with that thing? Do you absolutely believe it is worth $800 for one?

I'm kinda leaning toward the Vive as well, but which video are you referring to? The Virtual Desktop promo says it works with both Vive and Rift.
