    BLADE RUNNER

Kind of a boring teaser, but it's for a movie about which I am excite!

And of course, even in a 1-second trailer, they plaster Harrison Ford's face all over it. Let the poor guy be a cameo, come on. Then again if they didn't promote him, they'd be giving up all that star power.

I am now going to utter a blasphemy: I never thought the original was all that great. I've watched it a couple of times trying to see in it what all my other nerdly brethren see in it and, meh.
    - Definitely

I love it because it was the first movie to treat cyberpunk seriously, and it did so with a beautiful noir aesthetic. It's the first science fiction movie I can recall in which everything felt real, worn down and lived in. The science and technology weren't overexplained with a bunch of technobabble, it all simply existed. Listening to Tyrell explain the glittering minds of his creatures was more like philosophy than programming.

I love that it's slow and quiet, ponderous and thoughtful. I love the strangely anachronistic music.

I love the snake lady's boobies.

The new version will just be a dumb action movie with androids, but I'm sure I'll like it okay.

I watched it once and fell asleep halfway through. It's not a judgment on the movie, I was really tired at the time.

Jesus Christ, how do I even know you people?

This is like not having seen Alien.

Here's your viewing guide for Blade Runner: watch anything but the Theatrical Edition. Director's Cut, Final Cut, Extended Cut, Ridley Scott Cut, whatever. Just not the Theatrical Edition, which is only good for a historical perspective on why people hated the movie when it came out (they added cheesy voice-overs and stuff).
