I finally watched the full State of the Union speech. Besides all the obvious partisan stuff I have two comments. I share them here because I consider this my safe space:

I am so sick of an applause break after every stinking sentence. Nothing makes a long boring speech more long and boring like having to wait for the charade of people standing up and clapping in a perfunctory way.

Also, and here's the part where I fear being shipped to Guantanamo, I am also sick of "guests" in the balcony. I don't want to hear their maudlin stories and I don't want to wait for everyone to give each of them a standing ovation (see above).

Even Baseball admitted to itself that it can be too long and boring sometimes. Can't we do the same with the SOTU?

i agree so much. ever SOTU in the last couple decades has been just pandering, mostly hollow promises, standing ovations, and the most obnoxious to me - parading around "heroes" and token non-white people who have success stories that are, somehow the direct result of some 'amazing' thing the current president has done.

Someone needed to tell DJT that his mic was picking up his clapping...and also that it's weird for him to be clapping like that.

Also Joe Kennedy Jr. needs to fire his makeup person. He looked like he had drool on the sides of his mouth.

Applauding yourself is worse than laughing at your own bad joke. This alone should be an impeachable offense.

    I like dis quote:

And yet he voted for the tax cuts, but says that's ok because it allows people to keep more of their own money and the government is going to spend less. He's complicit or ignorant, either way he's useless.
