I just watched Norsemen, which is not a Netflix original, but it's a Norwegian comedy about vikings and Netflix is the only place to stream it, so it might as well be!

Good production values, and full of surprisingly funny, weird and dry Norwegian humor. Apparently every scene was shot in Norwegian first, then a second time in English. I don't know if this lends a particular air of "we just got done doing this scene" perfunctoriness to the acting, but if that's where the vibe came from, I loved it.

Also, it's only six episodes long. And also, toward the end, a surprisingly good villain gets added to the mix:

Just finished season one of Mindhunter. The first episode was so boring I almost stopped watching several times. I'm glad I didn't, the show ended up damn good. Last few episodes, man, I burned through them pretty hard. Can't wait for season two. All hail David Fincher.

Watching through Punisher. Just got to episode 10. So tired of the Lewis subplot, I barely paid attention. But I feel like I probably missed a pretty good episode. Maybe I'll revisit later. At least Lewis is done now.

Looks great, not sure why they have a white dude playing "Takeshi Kovacs" but hey I guess everybody gets to go through the whitewashing SJW meatgrinder a few times before they learn anything.

I don't think there's a Amazon Originals thread (because there aren't many), but my wife and I started watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and it's really good. I was going to post the trailer but it gives away most of the first episode and I think you should go in blind.

I don't think the blurb on amazon gives away too much detail:
In 1958 New York, Midge Maisel's life is on track- husband, kids, and elegant Yom Kippur dinners in their Upper West Side apartment. But when her life takes a surprise turn, she has to quickly decide what else she's good at - and going from housewife to stand-up comic is a wild choice to everyone but her. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is written and directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls).

I'm finishing up Godless on Netflix... once I'm done I'll definitely watch at least an episode or two of that, it sounds promising.

Godless is pretty decent, if you like westerns.

Huh, would have sworn there was a post somewhere about Bright, but I can't find it now. It's a movie on Netflix starring Will Smith and I imagine you've heard of it. It came out today.

It's basically like if LOTR happened 2,000 years ago and now we have elves and orcs and wands in modern times. Not bad, I enjoyed it, it's a fun Friday night movie. If you can make it past the first 20-30 minutes of hamfisted, unsubtle racial metaphors, that is. The action scenes waver between "badass" and "confusingly directed" (you can tell it's by the same guy who did Suicide Squad) but overall, I enjoyed it.

EDIT: Wow, the critics are cumming all over themselves at the opportunity to be first to shout about how terrible the movie was. Personally I'd rank it somewhere between the critical 28 and the audience 78.

But it starts well, and my boredom might simply reflect the personal tastes of someone who just got done praising Bright as "fun," so take it with a grain of salt.

I keep skipping it jumping from one episode to the next. Season 2 is ok, but not as good as 1. The faceless "bad-guy company" is getting tiresome.
