The Boys - Amazon Prime show

I'm through 3 episodes and it's amazing. I kinda wanna stay up all night to see all of it and blow off the stupid half day long meeting I have at 8, but I won't cause I'm not quite ready to quit yet.

I read the Mark Millar comic 10+ years ago, and it's one of my favorites. Have been looking forward to this, I'll sit down and devour it some day soon.

    Here's a spoiler for you:

    Jesus!

I saw the clip of when Homelander and Queen Maeve (sp?) take out the hijackers and how that all goes down and it reminded me that I gotta see it. So far it is amazing.

Oh, whoops, The Boys is actually by Garth Ennis, AKA the same guy who made Preacher (the AMC series version of which you should also investigate, if you haven't).

Mark Millar made other stuff. My favorite writers are Millar, Ennis, and Warren Ellis. They're all a little similar, though. Gritty and dark, black humor.

Check out Preacher next. And I'll watch The Boys. And we can trade Ennis stories.

EDIT: Also, if you're into superheroes acting like assholes in a somewhat more-realistic-than-Marvel/DC setting, you could totally check out "Worm" (which both Gnorlin and I have read).

Well, yup, episode 1 was dynamite and now I'm digging in to episode 2 after 11 pm on a school night.

It's funny that Simon Pegg is playing Hughie's dad, I always thought the comic version of Hughie looked like... Simon Pegg.

I'm streaming it from my phone to my chromecast and that makes trivia bits appear during the show. One of the first ones mentions that Simon Pegg was the model for the character and that's why they got him to play his dad.
