Correspondence Risk, Anyone?
First things first, create an account here:
http://www.wargear.net/
You'll need to respond to a registration email, and this site is 100 years old, so it might take a while. Get that process kick started, then come back to this thread.
EDIT: If we play on Colossal Crusade, that map actually supports up to 16 (not 9 as previously stated).
Players so far:
- TestName (me)
- Drewbie
- Liuv
- Gnorlin
- Sheil
- acerimmer (RainMan)
- Equoria
- Smoothiecold
- Corridon (Niko)

What is Correspondence Risk?
It's Risk. But with a significant turn timer, since Risk is a slow game and we can't expect everyone to be glued to their computers/phones to take part. I'm thinking a 24 hour time limit. This game could take a looooong time to complete.

How do I play Risk?
You were born in the 1700s and you're just now leaving your castle. That's okay. Here's a 5 minute tutorial if, like me, it's been a while since you last played:

Here's a more thorough text explanation, if video isn't your thing:

But how do I play Risk on WarGear?
That's a more interesting question. It's fairly painless. Here's a walkthrough of how to use the WarGear interface to play out a turn:

Generally speaking, the site abstracts away a lot of the fiddly parts. I've only played one game, but the initial setup (where you claim territory) was done semi-randomly by the computer. I'm cool with that. WarGear rolls dice in the background, you just see the result of your attacks by way of dwindling army sizes.
One thing WarGear adds to the experience, which I think is super neato, is fog of war:

Basically just means you can't see the entire board with perfect clarity.
Can I still claim Africa to myself? Asking for a friend. The friend is Drewbie.
It depends what map we play on. There are a LOT of maps available on WarGear:
http://www.wargear.net/boards/list
So far I've only played Colossal Crusade, which supports up to 9 players and is similar to the original Risk board, just sliced up into more territories for a larger game.
When do we start?
Get your account set up, then give me your username in this thread. Once we know who's playing, I'll start the game with a final player count, and send invites.

Here's what the different "fog of war" levels look like:

I have a little Risk app on my iPad. I always play against the computer. I always win. Their computer is a pretty stupid Risk player. It'll be a shock to play against human beings and, you know, lose.

A hundred years ago there was a site like that named "warfish"
