    Is it because it's Star Wars? I dunno. But I did enjoy this Girlfriend Review more than I expected.

    Nerrel's got a lot to say too, and it's great. I didn't love TLJ, but my biggest objections all center on Rose and the Casino Planet. Honestly if you edited that shit out, the other stuff is just a few nitpicks that would probably disappear like urine on silk sheets. TLJ had a lot of beautiful stuff in it.

    The last few minutes of this really made me sad.

    A beautiful point about both Yoda in the prequels, and Luke in TLJ:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPvEJjNNPp4&t=31m12s

    "Once Luke arrives on the scene, nobody else dies for the rest of the movie except for him."

    In retrospect, with the theory that Palpatine was fucking with everyone's heads all at once using the Dark Side, I don't really mind that people in the prequels were all completely stupid and out of character. They were doing what Palpatine wanted them to do. But while actually watching the movies, it's awful. And if you need a big fan theory like "it was Palpatine all along" to contextualize your movies and help them make sense, that's a baaaaad sign.

    Episode 6 is full of comparatively heavy hitters:

    It's some kind of heist crew. I'm 5 minutes in and I'm ready to see who dies first.

    They brought back Carl Weathers and Gina Carano for expanded roles in the last two episodes, so... they kinda sucked, to be honest. But the first 5 minutes of the finale were my favorite part of the whole series.

    Really liked the world-building they did in this show. Kinda the same reason I liked Solo better than most/all of the Disney Star Warses: it shows the grungier side of the galaxy, very creative stuff at a lower level, where the stakes are more personal and less universe-altering.

    I was about to add Mando to the "never takes his helmet off" hall of fame with Judge Dredd, Master Chief, and Pyramid Head. But nooooo.

    I've never actually watched the post-prequel remasters, but I just saw a clip of Boba Fett (in a RLM review of The Mandalorian) and his voice was jarring. Hang on a minute, that's not right!

    <google google google>

    Nope it's not right. First 45 seconds here demonstrate:

    This is so neat. In 5-10 years, I could easily see it being either: A) "can you believe we actually did things this way for that weird two year period back in the early 2020s" or B) the way all effects are done now.

    The Star Wars thread needs something too.
