Ohhh, maybe it has some kind of stain finish on it... purdy.

Edit: I want to get some fairly soft wood, and then take a ball-peen hammer or one of those tools they use to pound metal into shape on a motorcycle frame, the little round-ended jackhammer thing... and pound light dents into the board at the intersections, so the stones stay in place nice and firm (and the board looks like it's been played on for a thousand years). Then I will stain it with espresso.

You could get the ball-peen hammer and a second hammer to hit the first to do that pretty easily. Alternatively, you could just use a press and a ball of appropriate diameter and just press it down over and over in the various spots.

Either way, this will take a great long time. Have fun!

I dunno, I could see it taking 1-2 hours. Doing it with stones by playing games of Go would probably take around 350 years.

Tapping a board 400 times? Even if it took you 30 seconds to line up the punch just so, that's only 200 minutes. I imagine you'd get going much faster than that. Add in time to draw the grid and you're talking four hours tops.

I bet it would go pretty quick if we all brought hammers to the beer tournament and had at the board. Teamwork!

I can't watch at work, but I want to take a look at this later. Given that the domain is "Catalin Go Center," I'm hoping it's a series of videos by Catalin Taranu, who I like. He is good at Go, and is an actual professional player who makes videos on the internetz.
